I have discovered what it is I wish to do with my life, however society will get in the way. I am forced to ask a question.
“Is it so wrong to want to save the world. To save humanity. To save nature. To want to find a balance.”
Society replies “yes”
“why so?”
Society replies, “if one were to make the world prosperous, the rich would be normal. There would be no poverty. Everyone would be happy. Nobody would be miserable. In a world of champions, no one is exceptional.”
“Why is that so important?”
Society replies, “it would be nice, however humanity is imperfect. What you speak of is communism. Everyone equal, nobody would have the drive and ambition to do anything. They would receive what they need and be content. They would become complacent. Lazy. And society would fall apart.”
“would people not want to work for the sake of society? Bettering it would equal bettering their lifestyle. Wouldn’t that be enough?”
Society will answer : “no”
“but why not?”
Society will answer, “we are creatures, not of positivity, but negativity. We need the weak for the strong to step on. We need the strong so the weak may envy them to become strong, or stay weak so the strong may use them…”
“I do not believe you”
Society will reply, “what you believe is inconsequential. This is our nature…”
“no. it’s the way you have programmed us. What if we could reprogram…”
Society will interrupt and reply, “that is dangerous talk sir. That would jeopardize our profits and what we have worked so hard to achieve…slavery in a world without slavery.”
Society has revealed its intentions. My view is not communist, but not capitalist. My view is….what it is. I do not say we all earn the same, because that would rob us of our passions and drive. But I do not say we must be inequal, that is unfair. They say it’s a “dog eat dog” world, however, what if the dogs made a pack? And went hunting and shared the kill appropriately? Instead of the leader staying with the cubs and getting the biggest piece, everyone cooperates and reaps the rewards. I’m afraid this is impossible because all companies need fat-cats to run the business and “go for the kill”, just like it needs factory workers to produce goods at minimum wage. Not everyone can be a winner, but do we have to have losers? Can we not turn polarization of rich and poor, to rich and middle-class? It would be a step in the right direction. But could we as humans handle that?
We can learn much from ants.
Star Trek. No one is poor or rich, however they get on. Keeping society afloat.
I am troubled by this. Because I wish to save the world, however how does one insure it does not combat you or self destruct after your efforts have been made, and wasted?
Is there a way?
I don’t know.
